The monitor’s excellent image quality, simple connectivity, and attractive design make it a great match for a MacBook Pro. The BenQ PD3220U is expensive but worth the investment. It’s useful, but the wide variety of available display options can still be overwhelming. BenQ includes a unique puck controller that can be used to adjust settings. It supports Thunderbolt/USB-C and can charge a connected MacBook Pro. The monitor has a sturdy height-adjustable stand and slim display bezels. Being a 4K monitor, as well, the images and videos look crisp.īuild quality is excellent. Color is accurate out of the box and wide color gamuts, such as DCI-P3, are supported.

This monitor is designed for professional use and, as a result, has excellent color performance. It offers excellent image quality and Thunderbolt/USB-C for easy, one-cable connectivity.

Apple itself is known for commanding high prices, but even compared to its own kit, the Pro Stand seems to have created a class of its own in terms of the Cupertino excellence mark-up.BenQ’s PD3220U is an easy choice for MacBook Pro owners. Suddenly, $999 – or ten/twenty per cent – isn’t so outrageous. The new iPad Air is $499, the 2nd gen Apple Pencil is $129 and the Smart Keyboard is $159: that’s 25 per cent and 31 per cent respectively for the iPad accessories. An Apple Watch Series 4 costs $399 (we’re sticking with dollars, as there’s no UK price for the stand, display or Mac Pro yet)) and the new Pride Watch strap is $49: that’s 12 per cent.

At Wired, Sophie Chara argued the Pro Stand’s price is indefensible. Apple asking nearly $1000 for the Pro Stand for the computer’s new monitor certainly attracted attention too.
